Welcome! My name is Charles Ivan Windon, however I have always gone by Ivan. I have worked in Systems and Networking since 1997. I received my start by taking a class in Network Engineering Management from Computer Learning Center. It was then that I received my CNE 4 status, with a perfect score on the TCP/IP module. While I no longer deal with Novell Systems, I have nearly 20 years of experience with Microsoft and System Administration, as well as 5 years experience with Cisco Networks with a CCENT certification.
My main passion is within Information Security and Linux where I am now honing my skills at Pennsylvania State World Campus. I now hold an Associates in Information Sciences and Technology from Penn State, and a certificate in Security and Risk Analysis. I graduated with distinctions from the Pennsylvania State College in 2015.
I have worked with a number of platforms such as Windows, Linux, Cisco, Juniper, Sophos UTM, Wireshark, Websense, Lumension, F5, Exchange, and others. My future education goals include continuing at Penn State to earn a Bachelor in Security and Risk Analysis as well as working on my RHCE.
You will find the main focus of my blog is on Information Security and Linux, with information also on my Cisco Lab experiences, setting up various Firewalls, such as the Cisco ASA 5505, 5510, and 5520, and the Sophos UTM firewall, which I use on my home network. Other topics of interest I have is with programming in the C++, Objective C, Swift, and Python languages.
The security section contains security reports and news on current security issues and breaches, as well as security related topics such as TFA, Password security, and Firewalls. The systems section covers a variety of topics on Windows Server, Linux, Mac, VMWare, and Citrix. The programming section of the site covers my work on C++, C, Objective C, Swift, and Python. The portfolio portion of the site shows examples of my web design work. These sites are all live and coded by myself. I am always learning, and pushing myself to do better in all aspects of Information Science, and am always looking for that next big challenge.
