We have decided to start using virtual servers where I work and I am very excited about the prospect.  Over the next few months I will be consolidating a number of physical servers into virtual servers using VMware’s vSphere 5.  As I only have some experience with Microsoft Hyper-V I needed to get up to speed with how VMware functions.  Once again I turned to Trainsignal for my training needs with their VMware VSphere 5 training kit.  It will take me a few weeks to view all the material that is provided, however I am looking forward to the process.

While I wait for our servers to arrive I have downloaded the VMware trial edition of vSphere and installed it within a virtual machine on my MacBook Pro.  The virtual machine on the Mac is Parallels Desktop 7.  I also order 8 GB of RAM for my laptop so I can use numerous virtual machines at once.  This is obvious for testing purposes only.  I will continue to update this blog with my progress as I move along, as well as my continuing work with my CCNA studies.  It looks like I will have a busy schedule for the next few months.
